After the photo, the signature is the second thing exam forms reject. Most Indian exams want the signature at 140 × 60 pixels and 10 KB – 20 KB. Here is how to get a clean signature image at the right size.

Step 1: Sign on white paper

Sign in a box on plain white (unruled) paper using a black or dark blue pen. Make the signature reasonably large so it is clear when scanned down.

Step 2: Take a clear photo

In good light, take a straight photo of just the signature (not the whole page). Crop out the extra white space around it.

Step 3: Resize to the exam size

  1. Open the Photo & Signature tool — Choose the Signature preset (140×60, 10–20 KB).
  2. Upload your signature photo — Select the cropped signature image.
  3. Download — It is resized to 140×60 and kept within 10–20 KB, ready to upload.
💡 Never sign in capital/block letters for SSC and most government exams — only running handwriting is accepted.
